If you haven’t heard of the Pussy Hat Project then let me fill you in. It is a project to allow the women joining in on the Washington Women’s March to make a unique statement which will let their voice be heard louder.

The marches have spread into many countries to try and stand up for women’s rights. This project has really taken flight and some companies have noted the sell out of pink yarns.

There are many patterns available depending on what pink yarn you have to hand but I have worked up a pattern using Women’ Institute yarn and size 9mm needles. So if that is what you have available then take a look and get knitting. If this isn’t the right gauge for you then take a look at the Pussy Hat Project website.

Chunky Pussy Hat Project Pattern

You will need

Women’s Institute Soft and Chunky in Fushia x 1 ball

9mm circular knitting needles

Darning needle

How to make

Using 9mm needles cast on 45sts

Begin working in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Continue to work in the round until work measures 23cm.

Cast off all sts

Turn work inside out so that RS are facing inwards. Using mattress st, sew cast off edges together.

Sew in all ends.
